If you’re looking for personal styling services, you’re probably wondering why you’ve landed here, on this site, Heart Your Body.  But if you can spare a few minutes, let me explain how you got here. I promise it will be worth your while!

I’m Judi Craddock the founder of Peppermint Style and also the site you’ve just landed on, Heart your Body.

My early personal styling business

I set up my personal styling business, Peppermint Style, 6 years’ ago to help women feel more comfortable and confident in their skin.

When I started out with styling, I believed in its power to transform the way women felt about themselves and their bodies.

I thought that if they could wear clothes they felt good in, those good feelings would transfer to the way they felt about their bodies.

What I came to realise about body confidence and personal styling

Over the first year or so of working as a personal stylist, I came to an important realisation.

As I worked with my clients, I discovered that although they enjoyed personal styling, it wasn’t creating the lasting body confidence they craved.

Working on the outside, the styling, wasn’t dealing with what was really going on for my clients. Deep inside, the women I was working with didn’t like their bodies.

These feelings were hard-wired in their brains. Sadly, for many women, this is the norm. Our culture teaches us that to be valued as a woman, our body must look a certain way.

It was then I realised I needed to work on their minds, not how they dressed their bodies.

Why physical changes don’t improve body confidence

You see, it doesn’t matter what your body looks like when it comes to a healthy body image. You can like or dislike your body regardless of your size or shape.

If you don’t like your body, it doesn’t matter what external changes you attempt to make, whether that’s weight loss, shaping up, beauty treatments or having a style consultation, they won’t deal with the negative mind-set that is creating poor body confidence.

An end to personal styling, but a new beginning

In 2014, I decided I wanted to focus on helping women learn the tools and techniques they really needed to learn to accept and respect their bodies so they could live happier, healthier and ultimately more fulfilling lives. That’s when Heart Your Body was born.

It became my mission to help as many women as I could kick the body hate habit for good, and live the life they truly deserve.

Once I started doing this work, personal styling never felt quite the same for me. Don’t get me wrong, personal styling is fun, informative and a confidence booster, IF, and this is a big IF, you have already learned to accept your body.

This year, I decided that I will no longer be offering personal styling services. It doesn’t feel like the right fit for me professionally, given the journey I’ve been on.

What does this mean for you?
